Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Mau Mau War Veterans have joined other leaders across the political divide in wishing Kenya’s African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson candidate, Raila Odinga, victory ahead of Saturday, 15 February, elections.
Raila will be facing off with Djibouti’s Mahamoud Ali Youssouf and Madagascar’s Richard Randriamandrato for the seatt.
According to Gachagua, Raila’s one-time critic, Raila best fits in the seat and deserves the best, arguing that Africa needs a leader like him to champion for the African people.
“As a continent, we need a Raila character to gel Anglophone and Francophone selves towards the continent of the future,” Gachagua said in a post published in his X account.
Ha added that Raila’s victory will be a win for the people of Kenya and the continent at large, since his ambitions and dreams have been to spread the Pan-Africanism spirit throughout the continent.
“Raila Odinga’s win will be good and progressive for Africa. His victory will be a win for Kenya, our motherland,” Gachagua added.
On the other hand, Mau Mau veterans joined in support of Raila, saying that he has the vast knowledge and wisdom to lead and unify Africa politically, socially and economically.
“Raila can unite the African people without discrimination. He will initiate a sustainable economy by building infrastructures and industrial complexities. He is a great asset for the prosperity of Africa,” said the veterans, led by their Secretary- General Gitu wa Kahengeri.
Raila has received a lot of endorsements across the country.
