TikTok has unveiled NIVEA (Beiersdorf) and inDrive as the official Title Sponsors for the 2025 Sub-Saharan Africa Awards, marking a significant milestone in the platform’s continued efforts to elevate Africa’s creative economy.
The annual ceremony, scheduled for 6 December 2025, will celebrate inspirational digital creators who are shaping conversations, inspiring communities, and redefining content culture across the continent.
The announcement reflects a growing appetite among global and regional brands to align with Africa’s thriving creator landscape, where digital storytelling and innovation are increasingly driving cultural influence.
As Title Sponsors, NIVEA and inDrive will play a central role in amplifying recognition for creators, supporting immersive event experiences and boosting on-ground activations. NIVEA will sponsor the highly coveted Creator of the Year award, while inDrive will present the Storyteller of the Year category—each aligning closely with their brand values around empowerment, inclusivity and celebrating authentic African expression.
Strong brand partnerships driving growth
inDrive, a global mobility and urban services platform, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting digital creativity in Africa through this partnership. “We are delighted to partner with TikTok, as we share a long-standing relationship across the globe, including in the Sub-Saharan region,” said Mikita Ponarin, Marketing Lead for inDrive Africa. He added that TikTok offers a unique, expressive space that resonates deeply with younger audiences, making the awards a natural extension of the company’s engagement strategy.
In addition to the two Title Sponsors, three other major brands—Coca-Cola, Dis-Chem and PEP Stores—have joined as category sponsors. Coca-Cola will support the Food Creator of the Year award, Dis-Chem will sponsor Social Impact Creator of the Year, and PEP Stores will back the Entertainment Creator of the Year.

Their involvement underscores how creator-driven platforms are becoming central to marketing strategies across diverse industries, especially as brands seek to connect authentically with African audiences.
TikTok says these partnerships highlight a shared belief in the transformative power of digital creativity. “TikTok is proud to partner with great local and regional brands that support Africa’s creative economy,” said Boniswa Sidwaba, Head of Content Operations for Sub-Saharan Africa. She emphasized that the sponsorships reflect a unified vision to uplift creators while strengthening the digital ecosystems that empower communities across the region.
Spotlighting African creativity
The 2025 edition of the TikTok Awards will celebrate the content trends, moments, and personalities that have shaped the year—from viral dances and comedic skits to food innovators turning everyday kitchens into production studios, and storytellers whose narratives have ignited meaningful conversations both online and offline. Organizers say the event will reinforce TikTok’s mission to democratize creativity by giving every voice the chance to be heard.
The awards also highlight the growing global respect for African creators, whose influence increasingly extends beyond the continent.
