Ndindi to Ichung’wa: ‘Leave me alone; you have a black heart!’

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has hit back at National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa, accusing him of being jealous, envious and politically conniving, after the Kikuyu MP defended his decision to join the Peoples’ Party of Kenya (PPK).

Ndindi launched the scathing attack a day after Ichung’wa defended him against critics questioning his decision to associate with the PPK, telling the Majority Leader to concentrate on political affairs in his Kikuyu constituency.

Speaking during a press conference at the PPK headquarters in Nairobi on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, Ndindi accused Ichung’wa of being used by President William Ruto to execute political assignments against him and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

“I want to tell the MP for Kikuyu: You were used by Ruto to lead the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua. You were used to remove me from my position as the chairperson of the National Assembly Budget and Appropriations Committee because you have a black heart,” Ndindi said.

He claimed Ichung’wa had previously expressed hostility towards him in Parliament, alleging that the Majority Leader had told colleagues that it was better for milk to spill on the ground than for Ndindi Nyoro to drink it.

“You are a jealous person. Stay with your jealousy. As the Peoples Party of Kenya, we do not need your counsel. You are full of envy. You are jealous and conniving,” he said.

Accuses Ichung’wa of political interference

Ndindi further alleged that Ichung’wa used his influence in Parliament to frustrate development projects in Kiharu after he was removed as chairperson of the powerful Budget and Appropriations Committee.

According to Ndindi, the Majority Leader, who is also the Kikuyu legislator, ensured that projects in his constituency did not receive funding allocations, accusing him of using Parliament to settle political scores.

He also claimed Ichung’wa teamed up with National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed to discuss his suitability for the committee chairmanship for an entire afternoon.

Ndindi challenged Ichung’wa to focus on his own political future, particularly as he seeks to retain his Kikuyu parliamentary seat.

“I overheard you advising Kenyans on how they will vote next year. You have a big test in Kikuyu. Counsel yourself about Kikuyu. As PPK, we have a national duty,” he said.

He further mocked the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), claiming the ruling party was facing internal problems and warning that its political influence was weakening.

“Your wheelbarrow party needs the counsel you are giving us because it’s falling apart,” Ndindi said.

Fresh accusations

Ndindi also accused Ichung’wa of being involved in wider political controversies within UDA, including alleged persecution of Nyali MP Mohamed Ali and the removal of former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi from government.

“Remove the word Ndindi Nyoro from your mouth! You have a lot of explanations to do Kenyans on how you planned a criminal gang to attack the opposition,” he said.

The Kiharu MP further claimed that Ichung’wa had played a central role in political manoeuvres within the ruling party, allegations that could further widen divisions among leaders from the Mt Kenya region.

Ndindi also claimed UDA had planned to send representatives to congratulate him following his move to the PPK, despite the two politicians having not spoken for a long period.

“You [UDA] planned on how you would come and give me congratulatory messages. You know that the last time we spoke with you was probably in 2024,” Ndindi said.

Ichung’wa had on Monday, August 24, while addressing residents in Kigumo, Murang’a County, defended Ndindi’s freedom to associate with any political party, saying politicians should be allowed to make their own choices.
