Eldoret, Kenya – President William Ruto has donated Ksh20 million to the AIC Fellowship Annex in Eldoret City to support the church’s development projects.
The donation, made on Sunday, March 9, 2025, comes just a week after he contributed a similar amount to Jesus Winner Ministries in Roysambu, Nairobi.
Addressing the congregation, President Ruto reaffirmed his commitment to supporting religious institutions, emphasizing their role in shaping moral values and uplifting communities.
Giving is honour to God
“My giving is to honor God and to strengthen the church so that it can continue guiding our youth and fighting societal ills such as drug abuse,” Ruto stated.
The donation will go towards the construction and expansion of the church, which has been growing in membership over the years. AIC Fellowship Annex, which is celebrating its eighth anniversary, has been a key religious center in Eldoret, attracting worshippers from different parts of the country.

Roysambu protests
However, the President’s generous church donations have not been without controversy. His recent contribution to Jesus Winner Ministries in Nairobi sparked protests from Gen Z activists, who attempted to storm the church, demanding a refund of the money. The protesters claimed that public funds should be used for pressing national issues rather than church contributions.
Despite the backlash, Ruto remains steadfast in his stance, insisting that he will continue supporting religious institutions. In 2024, he implemented regulations barring state officials from fundraising in churches, directing the Attorney General to draft a legal framework for structured charitable donations.
The latest donation reinforces Ruto’s close ties with religious organizations, a key pillar of his administration’s outreach efforts.
As the church leadership in Eldoret welcomes the funding, attention now shifts to how the contribution will be utilized in the coming months.
