April 13, 2025 | Nairobi, Kenya — Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, is in London, United Kingdom, to represent Kenya at the London-Sudan Conference, a high-level meeting convened to advance peace efforts in war-torn Sudan.
The conference, organized at the invitation of the UK government, aims to address the protracted conflict in Sudan, which has now entered its third year. The civil war has resulted in thousands of deaths and displaced millions, with women and children bearing the brunt of the violence.
According to a statement released by his office, Mudavadi is expected to articulate Kenya’s position on regional peace and security within the Greater Horn of Africa, with a particular focus on Sudan.
Kenya has played a leading mediating role in the conflict, hosting senior figures from both the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), alongside civil society representatives, political actors, and armed groups.
At the conference, Mudavadi will reaffirm Kenya’s support for a unified Sudan and emphasize the need for a Sudanese-owned political process.
He is also expected to underscore Kenya’s opposition to military solutions in addressing political disputes, advocating instead for inclusive dialogue and negotiation.

Further, he will call on international actors to support African-led peace initiatives through established institutions such as the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the African Union (AU), the East African Community (EAC), and the Southern African Development Community (SADC). He is expected to warn against “forum shopping” by stakeholders seeking platforms that serve narrow interests rather than the broader goals of peace and stability.
Securing key infrastructure deals
Beyond the peace agenda, Mudavadi will also lead a government delegation in finalizing an agreement on the financing terms for the ambitious 438-acre Nairobi Railway City project. The deal, involving the Ministry of the National Treasury and United Kingdom Export Finance (UKEF), marks a major milestone in Nairobi’s infrastructure transformation.

During the London visit, Mudavadi will also oversee progress on key urban transit projects, including the Nairobi Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Line 3 and the Nairobi Commuter Rail Lines 2 and 5. Kenya is expected to conclude its obligations for the implementation of these projects, with formal announcements scheduled for the upcoming Government of Kenya/G7+ Transport Heads of Mission meeting on April 28, 2025.
The meeting will be co-chaired by the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and the British High Commission, highlighting the strengthening bilateral relations between Kenya and the UK.
