The leader of the People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) and Kiharu MP, Ndindi Nyoro, has accused the Government of mistreating foreign investors.
He cited Tata Chemicals Magadi, a foreign investor operating Magadi Soda in Kajiado County, which he said had been issued with a notice to leave by the Government.
“The Government should give investors an opportunity to conduct business without mistreating them,” said Nyoro.
The MP also defended journalists who, he said, continue to face harassment for exposing the truth about events taking place in the country.
“Journalists should be given the opportunity to perform their duties without being harassed,” said Nyoro.
Nyoro made the remarks on Friday, September 4, when he visited Gorgeous Technical Institute in Thika.
He commended the institution’s director, Jackline Waithera, for elevating the college to a level where it is recognised in Thika and across the country.
He said Kiharu Technical College in Murang’a County had established a close partnership with Gorgeous Technical Institute in Thika.
“I have faith that, by the grace of Almighty God, this college will attain university status in the future,” said Nyoro.
The director of Gorgeous Technical Institute, Jackline Waithera, urged young people to enrol in technical colleges to improve their lives in the future.
Youth advised to shun alcohol
“I urge young people to avoid illicit alcohol and instead enrol in technical training so that they can become self-reliant in the future,” said Waithera.
She said the institution was celebrating 10 years since its establishment and had trained more than 10,000 learners.
Some of the courses offered at the institution include hairdressing, catering, tourism, plumbing and beauty therapy.
Waithera said the courses, which take three months or more to complete, were important because many graduates are able to start their own businesses.

She said the institution would continue making progress and improving the quality of education offered in the coming years.
She attributed the improvement in training at the college to strong cooperation among teachers, parents and learners.
