Ruiru MP Simon King’ara has stepped up the implementation of development projects in his constituency, saying he will use the remaining year before the 2027 General Election to ensure ongoing projects are completed.
Mr King’ara made the remarks during a tour of several projects, including road rehabilitation works covering four wards in Ruiru Constituency.
The road project stretches from Mamalands through Kahawa Wendani to Lakasa and PCEA Kimbo, with further connections to Mwihoko, Mount Kenya University and Kasarani.
The MP said the ongoing works had improved conditions for residents, particularly roadside traders and motorists who had been affected by dust and traffic congestion.
“I am satisfied with the good work that is ongoing. Residents have acknowledged that the dust problem has been addressed, giving relief to roadside food vendors while traffic congestion has also eased,” said Mr King’ara.
He added that improved road conditions would enable matatu operators to conduct their businesses with fewer disruptions.
Projects across schools
Mr King’ara also inspected a newly constructed dormitory at Ruiru Girls’ Secondary School, which is intended to ease congestion in existing boarding facilities.
“I am grateful to the school board and officials for their cooperation in making the project a success. I am confident that the girls will no longer experience congestion in their dormitories,” he said.
The MP later visited Kwengethe Primary School in Kiuu Ward, where a perimeter wall has been constructed to improve security and prevent unauthorised access to the school compound.

Mr King’ara said the projects were being funded through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) and the King’ara Foundation.
He said his development agenda was guided by the needs of residents, regardless of their ethnic or social backgrounds.
“I am fulfilling my responsibilities in line with the promises I made to voters and residents of Ruiru in general. I am happy because my constituency has a large population made up of people from different ethnic and social backgrounds,” he said.
Mr King’ara added that NG-CDF funds had also been channelled to schools, with payment documents submitted to the institutions concerned.
He said the projects were part of efforts to improve infrastructure and services across the constituency before the next General Election.
