The Kikuyu National Council has embarked on a national unity tour, aiming to unite all communities in Kenya by bringing together various councils through their leaders.
“The goal is to foster unity and ensure that the voice of every citizen is heard,” stated Wachira wa Kiago, the council’s national chairperson.
The initiative follows the Council’s leadership visit to Kilifi County, where discussions were held with the leadership of the Mijikenda councils to promote unity and amplify the citizens’ voices.
“We are working to bring all communities in the country together,” explained Kiago. The Council’s leadership had earlier visited Kisii County and other counties in the Ukambani region with the same mission.
Raphael Mwangala, chairman of the Chonyi Community Council, emphasised that the initiative is non-political and clarified that no politician is behind the process. “This initiative has no political ties, and no politician is backing this process,” Mwangala noted.
The elders urged Kenyans to maintain peace as the nation prepares for the 2027 elections, with political temperatures rising across the country.
“We call on all Kenyans to uphold peace, especially during this time of political tension,” urged the elders.
