Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba on Friday released the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results during an official ceremony held at Chebisas High School in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
According to figures from the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), a total of 996,226 candidates sat the examinations at 10,755 centres spread across the country. With the results now officially out, candidates can access their performance using various platforms provided by KNEC and the Ministry of Education.

Those with internet access can also retrieve results through the official KNEC results portal at https://results.knec.ac.ke.
To check results online; candidates are required to:
- Visit the portal, https://results.knec.ac.ke
- Key in their index number,
- Select the examination year as 2025, and
- Submit to view and print a provisional results slip.
In addition to digital access, KNEC confirmed that all secondary schools will receive printed copies of official results and individual result slips for their candidates.
Capitation funds released
The release of the KCSE results comes shortly after the Ministry of Education announced the disbursement of capitation funds for the first term of the 2026 academic year. In a statement dated Friday, January 2, the Ministry confirmed that Ksh44.25 billion had been released to support learners in all public basic education institutions.
The funds were allocated across different education levels, including Free Primary Education (Ksh3.7 billion), Free Day Junior School Education (Ksh14.46 billion), and Free Day Secondary Education (Ksh26.08 billion).

CS Ogamba said the capitation funds would help schools run smoothly as the first term begins, while also guiding reporting timelines for learners transitioning to senior schools. He noted that Grade 10 learners are expected to report to their respective senior schools from January 12, 2026.
The Ministry also cautioned school heads against mismanagement of public funds, emphasizing accountability and strict adherence to government policy. Administrators were warned against imposing extra levies, with the Ministry vowing firm action against any confirmed cases of misuse of resources.
