Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has condoled with the family of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng’eno following the death of his elder and only brother, Paul Ng’eno.
Paul died on Friday, August 21, while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Eldoret City, where his medical bill had reportedly risen to KSh1.8 million.
His death came shortly after his mother, Mary Temas, appealed to Gachagua to assist in settling the outstanding hospital bill and securing her son’s release from the facility.
During Gachagua’s visit to the family home, Temas told the former deputy president that Paul was the only surviving son in the family. She appealed for financial assistance to clear the medical expenses.
Gachagua agreed to help settle the bill and expressed concern over Paul’s deteriorating condition.
The death has left the family mourning two sons within a relatively short period, following the death of Johanna Ng’eno.
Condolences to the family
News of Paul’s death was announced by Bernard Ngeno, a former personal assistant to Johanna Ng’eno who also contested the recent Emurua Dikirr parliamentary by-election.
“I convey my message of condolences to the family of Arap Temas, for the loss of Paul Ngeno who was brother to the late Hon. Johana Ngeno,” Bernard said in a Facebook post.
In a statement issued on Saturday, August 22, Gachagua expressed sympathy to Temas and the wider family, saying the loss of two sons within a short period was deeply painful.
“To Mama Mary Temas, mother to the late Emurua Dikirr MP, Hon. Johanna Ng’eno, pole sana on the loss of your son, Mr. Paul Ng’eno, who had been hospitalized for a while,” Gachagua said.

He acknowledged the difficulty of coming to terms with the death, urging the family to seek strength in God during the difficult period.
“No words of consolation are strong enough for you at this moment, but only God’s grace is sufficient. I pray for you, Mama Mary,” he said.
Gachagua said it was understandable for the family to question why the deaths had occurred, but noted that God’s will remained absolute.
“I know that, for a moment, you may question God why this has happened to you and to your sons,” he said.
“Many of us will ask, but the will of God is absolute. We may not understand the pain in your heart at the moment. But it is truly painful to lose your two sons within a short period.”
He also extended his condolences to residents of Emurua Dikirr, asking them to support the bereaved family during the mourning period.
“To the people of Emurua Dikirr, poleni sana on the loss of Paul Ng’eno,” Gachagua said.
He prayed for God to grant the family peace and strength as they come to terms with the loss.
“May the soul of Paul Ng’eno rest in eternal peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him forever,” he said.
