The family of Malava MP Malulu Injendi has been dealt another blow following the death of his brother, Samuel Injendi, a day before the legislator’s death.
Samuel died while receiving medication at Kakamega General Hospital on Sunday, February 16, 2025. On the other hand, Malulu was confirmed dead on Monday, 17 February, at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, where he had been admitted.
The legislator, 57, died while the preparations for his brother’s send-off were underway. Samuel was aged 80. He was a retired prison officer.
Malulu was a third-term MP and the Vice Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Education & Research. He attained a Bachelor of Arts in degree Economics and Sociology in 1991 from Egerton University and a Master of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of Nairobi.
While mourning him, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula said:
“As we come to terms with this great loss, let us remember Hon Injendi for his remarkable service and the positive impact he had on our nation. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, constituents, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him,” he said.
President William Ruto also mourned him by terming him as a towering leader who selflessly served his constituents.
“A believer of equal opportunities, Mheshimiwa was diligent, focused and devoted to public service. He will best be remembered for his passion for education,” said Ruto.
The family said they will bury Samuel first, as his burial plans had already started.
