Gatundu South MP Gabriel Kagombe has announced plans to release a series of what he terms as President William Ruto’s “lies” to Kenyans, accusing the Head of State of misleading the country since taking power in 2022.
Kagombe, who announced his departure from the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on Tuesday, August 11, said President Ruto had “hoodwinked” Kenyans for long and that he would now expose the promises he claims have not been honoured.
“Every morning, I will be releasing a series of all the lies that President William Ruto has made,” Kagombe said during an interview with Inooro FM’s Hagaria morning breakfast show.
“We have been lied to for a very long time. I have never been lied to by a person for four years,” he added.
The Gatundu South lawmaker was previously among President Ruto’s key political defenders from the Mt Kenya region, making his latest remarks a significant shift in his political stance.
Kagombe attacks Ruto’s Mt Kenya strategy
Kagombe also criticised what he described as the sidelining of Mt Kenya MPs affiliated with UDA during the recent Broad-Based Government retreat in Naivasha.
He said the treatment of the lawmakers was evidence that President Ruto had turned his back on the region after benefiting from its political support during the 2022 General Election.
“William Ruto did away with us; he did away with us long time ago,” Kagombe said.

His comments come amid growing political realignments in Mt Kenya ahead of the 2027 General Election, with several politicians distancing themselves from the ruling party and questioning the administration’s record.
On the 2027 presidential contest, Kagombe said he was yet to decide who he would support but was categorical about the candidate he would reject.
“I don’t know who I will elect as President, but I know who I will not elect; and it’s William Ruto,” he said.
Kagombe also took a swipe at Ruto while discussing the possibility of the President losing the 2027 election.
“I wish President Ruto could have accepted we create the position of the Official Opposition Leader, because he would have held it,” Kagombe said.
