Sunveat FC defeated Amref International University 3-1 in a friendly match played on Saturday, June 13, at the university grounds in Ruiru.
Sunveat FC also competes in the Central Region League (Regional League), Zone A, where it currently occupies third place in the league standings.
The match was an exciting encounter, with Sunveat displaying impressive skill and teamwork. The opening goal came in the 12th minute through Onesmus Kamau after an assist from Dickens Sanya.
Despite enjoying home-ground advantage, the Amref side faced stiff competition from Sunveat throughout the match.
The second goal came in the 26th minute when Brian Simiyu found the back of the net after receiving a well-delivered pass from Onesmus Kamau.
The game continued to entertain spectators, with Emmanuel Aruba scoring the third and winning goal for Sunveat.
Focus on league ambitions
Sunveat head coach Godwin Juma said he was satisfied with the performance of his players, although he noted that the team still needs to maintain intensive training sessions to improve further.
On Sunday, the team is expected to face Thindigua FC, which currently tops the league table with 62 points.
According to Coach Juma, Sunveat FC currently sits third in the league standings with 37 points.

The team has played 20 matches, winning 11, drawing four and losing five.
Kenol Talent Youth occupies second position with 38 points.
“Sunveat has four matches remaining before the end of the league season. If we manage to win all of them, we could possibly finish in second place,” said Juma.
Director praises team spirit
The company’s director, Yaju Dhirubha, said the team has already demonstrated its strength in the league and that he will continue supporting it because of the players’ hard work and dedication.
“Today I am pleased with your performance in beating Amref. It shows good teamwork and cooperation in football,” the director said.
The team boasts a talented squad that includes goalkeeper Alex Musamba, Claxton Mutekwa, Java Juma, Brian Simiyu and Onesmus Kamau. Other players are Musiludeen Akanni, Emmanuel Aruba and Dickens Santa. The squad also features Mohamed Lukhubi, Abdullah Bilali and Dallington Onyango.
Sunveat Company has been at the forefront of supporting the team by providing essential training and playing equipment such as jerseys, footballs and other necessary sports gear.
According to Coach Juma, he has been with the team for more than five years, and his main objective is to see the club progress to a higher competitive level next season.
