Popular Kikuyu FM radio stations caller Wanjohi wa Kigogo-ini has left listeners across the Central Kenya region shocked after emotionally accusing a boda boda rider from his home area of “snatching” his wife, in a dramatic on-air confession that has since sparked widespread debate and sympathy.
Wanjohi, a household name among loyal listeners of Inooro FM, Coro FM and Kameme FM, made the revelation during a late-night call on Sunday to Inooro FM presenter Referee Mwenyewe, real name Jeremiah Kimani.
His emotional narration, delivered live on air, stunned thousands who have grown accustomed to his usually humorous and energetic contributions to talk shows.
Emotional on-air revelation
“Hello, Referee, things have not been so good to me this year,” Wanjohi said during the call. “These are issues pertaining to my family — not my father or mother, but my wife.”
Hailing from Kigogoine village in Tetu, Nyeri County, the distraught caller went on to claim that his wife had eloped with a boda boda rider from the same locality. “As we speak, I don’t have my soulmate. She eloped with a boda boda rider. I am now like that famous person whose wife was snatched by a matatu conductor. My ugali was removed from my own mouth,” he lamented.

Wanjohi told listeners that he is currently living alone and struggling to come to terms with the situation, but insisted he would not resort to violence or revenge. “I am praying to God to give me perseverance. I said I will not take the law into my hands. The person involved is from my locality and even has a wife,” he said, appealing to his fans to pray for him.
Choosing faith and restraint
Describing himself as a devout Christian, Wanjohi framed his ordeal as a spiritual test. “Believers pass through many tribulations. The devil subjects us to many tests to see how we shall react,” he said.
He added that he had chosen silence and restraint over confrontation to avoid escalating the matter. “I have been passing through a lot but decided to keep quiet. I don’t want to harm the culprit and later find myself in trouble. I chose to separate myself quietly and leave him with the wife. I don’t want conflict or to appear as if I am fighting my wife. It is better to let someone leave in peace,” he concluded.
From celebrated wedding to public heartbreak
Wanjohi, whose real name is Titus Kariuki, married his wife Peris Wanjiru in December 2018 in what was widely described as one of the most glamorous weddings in Kikuyu entertainment circles. Unlike many ceremonies where the bride takes centre stage, the spotlight that day shone firmly on the groom — the famous Wanjohi wa Kigogoine.
The wedding, held at Kigogoine PCEA Church, attracted hundreds of guests, including politicians, radio and television presenters, musicians, businesspeople and clergy. To crown it all, the ceremony was broadcast live on Kameme TV, cementing Wanjohi’s celebrity status beyond radio airwaves.

Wanjohi rose to fame through his unique habit of calling into nearly every Gikuyu radio station daily to contribute to discussions on a wide range of topics. Presenters and listeners alike have often marveled at how he manages to get through to as many as three stations within ten minutes. His comical, high-pitched voice and trademark sign-off — sending greetings to politicians and the people of Kigogoine — have made him instantly recognisable.
In the past, Wanjohi frequently told anyone who cared to listen that he was searching for a life partner, often asking Kameme FM presenter Rev. Lucy wa Ngunjiri to pray for him. When he finally exchanged vows with Wanjiru, he appeared overwhelmed with joy, even sealing the moment with an affectionate kiss before cheering congregants
