TECNO has won two IFA Global Product Technology Innovation Awards at IFA 2026, earning recognition for its futuristic Modular Phone and the Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS (MEGA MINI G1 Pro) gaming mini PC.
The awards highlight TECNO’s growing push beyond its established Camon, Spark and POVA smartphone lines, with the company showcasing products designed to combine advanced technology, compact form factors and distinctive aesthetics.
The Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS received the Miniaturized Gaming PC Technology Innovation Gold Award, while the TECNO Modular Phone was awarded the Ultra Slim Magnetic Modular Technology Innovation Gold Award.
For Kenyan consumers, the recognition offers a glimpse into technologies that could eventually influence the devices available through local retailers, although the award-winning products are not necessarily headed for Kenyan shops immediately.
Modular phone pushes the limits
At just 4.9mm thick, TECNO describes the Modular Phone as the world’s slimmest modular smartphone.
The device uses the company’s proprietary Modular Magnetic Interconnection Technology, which combines a precision magnetic array with pogo pin connectors to allow different modules to be attached to the handset.

The system supports an ecosystem of 10 high-performance modules intended to respond to different user requirements. The host phone retains a 3,000 to 4,000mAh battery, while attached modules can draw power directly from the device, creating what TECNO describes as a “snap and go” experience.
The phone also features a portless unibody design with an IP rating for dust and water resistance.
TECNO says the Modular Phone was engineered as a physical gateway for personal artificial intelligence assistants, addressing the challenge of accommodating increasing AI computing demands within increasingly compact devices.
The concept has already attracted more than 20 accolades from international technology publications. CNET and Yanko Design named it among their Best of MWC 2026 selections, while The Verge recognised it as the Best Mobile Tech at MWC 2026.
TECNO says the Modular Phone is expected to enter mass production soon, potentially bringing the technology closer to commercial availability.
Mini PC combines gaming and luxury
The Tonino Lamborghini TECNO TAURUS, also known as the MEGA MINI G1 Pro, takes a different approach, combining high-end computing with a luxury-inspired design.
At approximately 6.36 litres, TECNO describes it as one of the world’s smallest water-cooled gaming PCs. Its vertical chassis features a panoramic transparent window and Italian-inspired styling associated with the Tonino Lamborghini brand.
Under the compact exterior is an Intel Core i9-13900HK processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics, with 614 AI TOPS, 145W total graphics power and DLSS 4 support.

The integrated water-cooling system is designed to help maintain high operating frequencies under sustained workloads, while 15 ports, including OCuLink and USB4, provide connectivity and expansion options. Wi-Fi 6E is also supported.
Beyond gaming, TECNO positions the machine as a high-efficiency workstation capable of supporting artificial intelligence workloads.
The two awards are part of the Global Product Technology Innovation Awards, established in 2014 by IDG, IFA and DIHK to recognise consumer electronics products considered to demonstrate technological and design innovation.
TECNO also showcased a next-generation bezel-less concept phone featuring a claimed 0mm screen bezel and the convertible MEGABOOK T15 360 Pro at IFA 2026.
Both remain concept devices rather than retail products. However, TECNO’s continued experimentation with flagship technologies could offer Kenyan consumers an indication of design and hardware features that may eventually appear in more mainstream Camon, Spark and POVA devices.
