The Nyandarua County Assembly on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, unanimously approved all nominees to the County Public Service Board (CPSB) following a vetting process that found them suitable for appointment.
The approvals were made during the Assembly’s first sitting of year 2026, presided over by Speaker Wachira Waigango.
The House also used the sitting to consider and deliberate on the county’s 2026/2027 fiscal plan, setting the tone for the legislative and oversight agenda in the year ahead.
First sitting of the year
The session marked an important restart for the Assembly after the year-end recess, with MCAs prioritising key governance and administrative matters. Central to the agenda was the approval of nominees forwarded for appointment to the CPSB, a critical institution mandated with managing human resource affairs within the county government.

After debate and review of the committee report, the Assembly resolved to approve all the nominees, citing their qualifications, experience and regional balance. Members noted that the CPSB plays a vital role in ensuring professionalism, accountability and efficiency in the county public service.
The approved nominees
The approved nominees include Dr Stephen Mwaura Njoroge, PhD; who will serve as the Chairperson, and Dr Paul Gichuki King’ori, PhD, who was approved as the Board’s Secretary. Other members approved are Rev David Kanyoni Kimani, Rev David Ngugi Kabono, Ms Mirriam Nyamweru Thigari and Ms Dorcas Njeri Karanja.
In terms of regional representation, Dr Gichuki hails from Leshau Pondo Ward in Ndaragwa Constituency. Dr Mwaura and Ms Karanja are from Kinangop, Rev Kanyoni comes from Ol Joro Orok, Rev Kabono hails from Kipipiri, while Ms Nyamweru is from Ol Kalou Constituency.
Vetting and approval
The nominees were vetted by the Committee on Public Service, Administration and Devolution, chaired by North Kinangop MCA Ednald King’ori. During the vetting exercise, the committee assessed the candidates’ academic credentials, professional experience, training and employment history.
Other areas of scrutiny included potential conflicts of interest, compliance with statutory obligations, leadership ability, integrity, vision and overall knowledge of public service management. The committee also evaluated the nominees’ performance during the interviews and their general presentation.

In its report to the House, the committee concluded that all the nominees met the constitutional and statutory requirements for appointment to the CPSB. MCAs concurred with the findings, stating that the approved team possesses the competence and integrity required to strengthen public service delivery in Nyandarua County.
With the approval secured, the nominees are now set to assume office once formally appointed, as the county government looks to enhance efficiency and accountability in its public service.
