Kenya Power has announced a Ksh 7.1 million sponsorship for the 2025 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally Kenya, aimed at improving lighting and electricity access at key event locations.
The sponsorship will fund the installation of floodlights at the Safari Rally Service Park and enhance power supply to the Morendat Safari Rally Village in Naivasha. This will ensure uninterrupted operations for rally service crews and provide a more convenient experience for spectators.
Kenya Power Managing Director and CEO Joseph Siror said the company’s involvement underscores its commitment to sports and community development.

“We are proud to be the official lighting partner of the WRC Safari Rally Kenya 2025. Our goal is to ensure adequate electricity for the service centre and allow rally fans to stay connected throughout the event,” Dr. Siror said.
The Safari Rally Service Centre, located at the Wildlife Research and Training Institute (WRTI) in Naivasha, is the hub where rally teams conduct critical vehicle maintenance. With improved lighting, teams will be able to work efficiently, even at night.
Apart from powering the rally, Kenya Power will set up an exhibition pavilion at the Morendat Spectator Village to showcase innovations in electric mobility (E-mobility) and electric cooking (E-cooking). The pavilion will also provide free charging stations for electric vehicles, motorbikes, and mobile phones.
“Through this initiative, we aim to educate the public on the benefits of e-mobility and e-cooking while addressing their energy needs. This is also an opportunity to engage with our customers and highlight Kenya Power’s role in driving Kenya’s energy transition,” Dr. Siror added.
Attract millions of viewers
The 2025 WRC Safari Rally is expected to attract over 120 million viewers across 70 countries, with coverage from 43 international media partners. The event, a key highlight of the global rally calendar, will see top rally drivers from around the world competing on Kenya’s challenging terrains.
With its sponsorship, Kenya Power aims to support motorsport in Kenya while reinforcing its commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
