The Green Warriors 237 organization on Saturday, April 11, launched a free medical outreach and tree-planting exercise in the town of Thika.
The organization’s chairman, Mr. George Wachiuri, said the tree-planting initiative was a success, with residents from Starehe, Biafra, and Majengo turning out in large numbers to participate.
He welcomed the proposal to elevate Thika into a “Smart City,” noting that the town has already experienced significant development due to improved infrastructure.
“This tree-planting and free medical program for Thika residents is now in its second phase, the first having been held last year in 2025 in the Gatuanyaga area,” the chairman explained.

He added that the success of the initiative was made possible through collaboration with various stakeholders within Thika town.
The free medical camp was held at Thika Community Grounds, while tree planting took place at Jamhuri Secondary School and the adjacent primary school.
1000 patients screened
Approximately 1,000 patients were screened for various illnesses and received free treatment.
Many Thika residents underwent eye examinations, blood pressure checks, diabetes screening, and some also donated blood.
During the tree-planting exercise, more than 500 trees were planted in Jamhuri Secondary School, Starehe, and Ofafa areas.

He added that he would continue making efforts to ensure Thika develops into a desirable environment, with more tree planting initiatives to enhance its surroundings.
