For the past several months, residents across the Mt Kenya region — from Laikipia and Nyeri to Nyandarua and Samburu — have reported unusual aircraft activity, with planes leaving persistent white trails that linger for hours across the sky.
At the same time, the region has been grappling with prolonged dry spells that have devastated crops and weakened livestock, leaving farmers and pastoralists desperate for answers.
A Home News correspondent, Kaniaru wa Kibiru, a Pan-African Globalisation Sociologist, has submitted a detailed document to this publication alleging that the aircraft trails are evidence of “artificial fake clouds” and “geoterrorism” aimed at manipulating weather and sabotaging rainfall.
He claims that “mobile NASA’s artificial (fake) ground cloud and fog generator systems” are being operated from Ol Daiga, with chemicals allegedly sprayed into the skies to “sabotage rain clouds” over Laikipia, Nyeri, Isiolo, Dol Dol, Samburu and other areas.
He further alleges that this is an “Israel declared Geoterrorism Warfare invasion” carried out by “local recruited terrorists, oathed, initiated and inducted into diabolical groups” working with “brain dead bravado politicians”.
These allegations, however, remain entirely unverified and are disputed by scientific experts.
Claims of weather manipulation
In his submission, Kibiru details what he believes is the mechanism behind the alleged weather manipulation.
“Generally, the dynamics of (Fake) Artificial Clouds and Fog weather manipulations works to excessively geoengineer Chemical Spraying consistently into the skys to sabotage rain clouds and its results cools temperatures down, and the precipitation — the quantity of water falling to earth at a specific place within a specified period of time — goes down accordingly,” he writes.

He claims the alleged spraying creates “heavy thick and very largescale upper level haze/cloud and fog cover that eclipse and shadow the sun obscuring the falling of sunlight for a period of time”.
Kibiru further alleges that chemicals including Aluminium, Barium, Strontium, Sodium Phosphate and Magnesium are being released to create “too many condensation nuclei for cloud droplets”.
He describes the alleged phenomenon as “rainless clouds accompanied by cold and wind but with featureless upper level canopy of haze, sometimes spanning an immense distances (hundreds or even thousands of miles)”.
According to his document, “Weather is not changing, but it’s being manipulated,” and he warns that “Chemtrails will soon cause acid rain and breathing problems to citizens.”
What Science says about contrails
Aviation and meteorological experts, however, offer a straightforward scientific explanation for the white trails often seen behind aircraft.
When planes fly at high altitudes, hot engine exhaust containing water vapour mixes with extremely cold surrounding air. Under suitable atmospheric conditions, the vapour condenses and freezes into tiny ice crystals, producing what are known as condensation trails, or contrails.
Depending on temperature, humidity and wind conditions, these contrails can persist for extended periods and spread across the sky. They are composed primarily of water and ice crystals rather than the toxic heavy metals alleged in the document.

The United States National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has extensively documented contrail formation as a natural physical phenomenon. In humid conditions, contrails can expand and develop into cirrus-like cloud cover that may influence temperatures, but this does not constitute evidence of deliberate chemical spraying.
The persistence of contrails, however, does not explain the erratic rainfall patterns farmers are experiencing.
Climate scientists point to broader, well-documented factors, including global climate change, shifting rainfall patterns and environmental degradation, all of which can influence local weather.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has documented increasing rainfall variability in East Africa, including longer dry spells interspersed with intense rainfall events. Such patterns are consistent with a changing climate rather than localised chemical spraying.
While residents describe skies that “look like they want to rain, but do not”, attributing drought specifically to aircraft activity would require scientific evidence that does not currently exist.
Questions over government role
Kibiru also questions the government’s role in the alleged phenomenon.
“Gradually, slowly by slowly Israel and Kenya Government are arrogantly engineering a wicked drought narrative they rushed out to ‘predict’ as if clouds form in caves not in skies,” he writes.
“How does Government declare that Kenya will experience drought, form a Disaster Committee and then send chemtrails plane in the Skys and make fake cloud to sabotage rainfall?”
He dismisses official drought warnings as “a typical psychopath mind scheming pattern — act then think evidence of evil men who lack empathy and human feelings”.
He concludes by calling for action, writing: “Time to Act & Stop this madness – drought engineering as we watch – unite.”
Israeli Climate Research Project
Adding to the complexity and fuelling some of Kibiru’s suspicions is a separate development that has attracted public attention.
Israel’s Weizmann Institute of Science has deployed a mobile climate research laboratory in Kenya — reportedly the first facility of its kind in Africa — to collect ground-based environmental data across diverse ecosystems.
The laboratory, currently stationed at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Kapiti, Machakos County, is equipped with more than 30 scientific instruments measuring carbon exchange, solar radiation, water use and vegetation dynamics.
According to researchers, the laboratory will operate for three years before relocating to Mount Kenya and other regions. It is also expected to expand to Tanzania and South Africa as part of a wider continental climate data collection effort.
Israel’s Ambassador to Kenya, Gideon Behar, has said the project is intended to address Africa’s severe climate data gap.
“There is a huge gap in climate data and climate knowledge in Africa, and the work of this laboratory helps us close this gap,” he said.
Scientists involved in the project say the mobility of the laboratory is essential for improving global climate models, which they argue rely too heavily on satellite observations without sufficient ground-based verification.
Professor Dan Yakir of the Weizmann Institute, who leads the research team, has emphasised that the project’s purpose is scientific: to measure how land-use change is reshaping the continent’s carbon, water and energy cycles.
However, given Kibiru’s allegations of Israeli involvement in weather manipulation, the timing of the high-profile scientific deployment has deepened suspicion among some residents.
Calls for transparency
Residents and activists have nevertheless called for greater transparency.
“We are not asking for conclusions. We are asking for transparency,” one activist told this publication.
“If this activity is harmless, let the government explain it. If there is some weather modification programme underway, let the public know. Citizens have a right to know what is happening in their skies.”

Kibiru echoes this demand more forcefully, writing: “This man induced phenomena is occurring daily in Mt Kenya region whose rain continue being delayed.”
He warns of “a conspiracy to wipe out pastoralists & small scale farmers” and describes the alleged activities as “Satanic ritual abuse”.
The Kenya Meteorological Department has previously stated that there is no evidence of deliberate weather manipulation through chemical spraying and that contrails are a natural occurrence.
The department has also explained that long-term drought projections are based on established climate models that consider factors such as oceanic patterns, including El Niño and La Niña, atmospheric circulation and historical rainfall data.
Official drought assessments and declarations are based on established monitoring systems that examine rainfall deficits, vegetation health and water availability across affected counties.
While the allegations of “geoterrorism” remain unsubstantiated, the convergence of persistent contrails, worsening drought and a high-profile Israeli climate research initiative has created fertile ground for suspicion.
The claim that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has developed a “cloud generating machine”, however, does not have credible scientific backing.
Experts caution that conspiracy narratives often flourish during periods of environmental uncertainty, when communities seek explanations for events that feel beyond their control.
The scientific consensus remains clear: contrails are a natural consequence of aircraft flight under specific atmospheric conditions, and there is no peer-reviewed evidence supporting claims of deliberate large-scale chemical spraying to manipulate weather patterns in the manner alleged by Kibiru.
