Safina Party leader Jimi Wanjigi now wants Azimio MPs to use their numerical strength to impeach President William Ruto by March.
Wanjigi says that after the Friday’s High Court declaration of Azimio la Umoja party as the majority party in Parliament, the MPs have no option but to use their newfound strength to put Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza regime out of power.
“You are now the majority in Parliament. They showed us that you can impeach a Deputy President and he doesn’t need to complete a full term. You see, even the Mt Kenya MPs still supporting him (Ruto) cannot go home. They are finished. They will join you to impeach this man so that we can have a new political life…”
“Are you ready to wait for five more years? My request is, if they do not impeach him by March, then they are asleep,” said Wanjigi while addressing mourners at a burial in Siaya.
Siaya governor James Orengo said that Kenyans are angry and cannot wait for Ruto’s five-year term to end in 2027.
Orengo said that with the court’s declaration, it’s evident that even the 2022 presidential results were not correct.
“What the High Court said yesterday (Friday) is a confirmation that the election results announced in the last elections were not correct. That is the confirmation!” roared Orengo.
Despite ODM leader Raila Odinga striking a deal with President Ruto, Orengo has remained one of the most vocal leaders against the partnership.
Other leaders are Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East legislator Babu Owino.
