Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has alleged that President William Ruto is planning to unite other communities against the Kikuyus, Meru and Embu communities ahead of the 2027 elections.
Gachagua says that Ruto is scheming to return a 41 against 1 scenario witnessed in 2007.
In an interview with radio and TV stations broadcasting in Mt Kenya region on Sunday 9th February 2025, Gachagua alleged that Ruto has disenfranchised the Kikuyus by imposing punitive taxes on them.
“If you go to Nyamakima in Nairobi today, all the shops are closed courtesy of deliberate policies to economically weaken our people,” said Gachagua.
He said that the recent remarks by Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama on plans to isolate Mt Kenya in 2027 had Ruto’s blessings.
“The MP made the remarks in front of the president. So far, neither the President nor his allies have denounced the MPs’ words,” said Gachagua.
The former DP said that one of the plans the government has been employing is to revive the outlawed Mungiki sect to terrorise the locals
