Bahari Girls National School in Kilifi County has once again demonstrated academic brilliance, producing five straight A grades in the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
The Kilifi County Director of Education, Veronica Karungu, confirmed that Bahari Girls currently leads the county rankings with five A grades. Ribe Boys High School follows with four A grades, while Mambrui Secondary School, a private institution in Magarini Constituency, secured one.
Among Bahari Girls’ top achievers are Bilhah Malemba Kibirisho and Mwashasha Rashid Khalfan, who each scored 82 points. They were closely followed by Rahma Guyo, Selina Pola, and Gona Raheli Joseph, who attained 81 points. From Mambrui Secondary School, Khaula Abubakar Salim also posted a strong performance, scoring an A plain with 81 points.
Remarkable turnaround
This year’s performance marks a dramatic turnaround for Bahari Girls. In 2024, only one candidate from the school managed to secure an A grade.
The leap to five top scorers in 2025 underscores the school’s improved teaching strategies, student resilience, and strong leadership.
Education officials hailed the achievement as a source of pride for Kilifi County, noting that Bahari Girls’ success sets a new benchmark for public schools in the region.

“This is a testament that our efforts to improve the school’s results in the past year have not been in vain,” said one of the teachers in the school.
He expressed confidence that the school will maintain the excellence spirit.
Parents and teachers joined in celebrating the victory, describing it as proof that consistent effort, discipline, and determination can transform academic outcomes.
With KCSE results still streaming in nationwide, Bahari Girls has already secured its place among Kenya’s top-performing schools, inspiring hope and ambition for future candidates across the Coast region.
