The Ministry of Education has confirmed that the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results will be released by Thursday next week, easing anxiety among candidates, parents and guardians across the country.
A total of 929,262 candidates who sat the national examinations are expected to receive their results. The exams concluded on November 14, 2025. Concerns had emerged over what some parents described as delays, but the Ministry insists the release timeline remains on course.
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba dismissed claims of postponement, saying the Ministry is following the established practice of releasing KCSE results in January.
Ministry maintains January release tradition
CS Ogamba said the examination cycle has proceeded as planned and urged stakeholders to remain calm. He noted that there has been no departure from timelines observed in previous years.
This year, Form Four candidates will collect their KCSE certificates from sub-county education offices instead of their former schools.

The change is intended to end the long-standing problem of schools withholding certificates over unpaid school fees.
The 2025 KCSE examinations were conducted between October 21 and November 14. During the examination period, 418 candidates were reported for examination malpractices.
Marking disruptions settled
The marking exercise faced a brief disruption when about 800 examiners stationed at Maryhill Girls High School in Thika downed their tools, citing poor working conditions and weak communication from the Ministry following their arrival on November 30.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) later said the dispute had been resolved, confirming that all examiners had been paid and dismissing claims that coordination fees were outstanding.
On Wednesday evening, President William Ruto held a consultative meeting at State House, Nairobi, with education sector stakeholders led by CS Ogamba. The meeting, held on January 7, 2026, is part of the standard procedure conducted ahead of the release of national examination results.
Final preparations signal release
The consultation is widely viewed as a clear signal that the KCSE results are imminent, with indications pointing to a release on Thursday, January 8.
Earlier in the week, KNEC activated the online KCSE results-checking portal in preparation for the release.

The system will allow candidates to access their results using their admission number and registered names once the results are officially announced.
The activation of the portal signals that final preparations are complete as anticipation builds nationwide. According to official records, 996,078 candidates were registered for the 2025 KCSE examinations, which included oral, practical and written theory papers conducted successfully across the country.
