The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that four by-elections will be conducted on February 26, 2026, to fill vacant seats in Parliament and county assemblies across the country.
In a gazette notice issued by IEBC chairperson Erastus Ethekon, the commission said the polls will include a parliamentary by-election in Isiolo South constituency. The seat fell vacant following the death of Mohamed Tubi, who was elected during the 2022 General Election.
Parliamentary and ward by-elections set
The commission also confirmed plans to hold two Member of County Assembly (MCA) by-elections in Mbeere North constituency. The contests will take place in Muminji and Evurore wards after the sitting MCAs resigned to contest parliamentary seats during the November 27 by-elections.
In addition, IEBC scheduled an MCA by-election for West Kabras Ward in Malava constituency, Kakamega County, to be held on the same date.
The commission said the upcoming polls are part of its constitutional mandate to ensure representation following vacancies arising from death or resignation of elected leaders.
