Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has sparked fresh political debate after writing an emotionally charged letter to retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, urging him to intervene in the growing tensions within the Mt Kenya political bloc.
Wamuchomba also wants Uhuru to “tame” former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The letter written on Monday, April 6, was shared through her social media pages.
The MP was a close of ally of Gachagua before falling out and re-joining President William Ruto’s camp.
In the opening of the letter, Wamuchomba addresses Uhuru with reverence, referring to him as “MUTHAMAKI” and her “political god father with utmost respect.”
She explains that she is reaching out “not for lack of respect but because you became unavailable,” adding that leaders in the mountain were once misjudged as “no leaders but brokers.”
She revisits the end of Uhuru’s presidency, claiming that allies were sidelined: “During your last years of your presidency you were advised to block your siblings,” she writes, alleging they were “left… in the cold; without political direction.”
She further recalls how the group later aligned with President Ruto, noting, “we found a friend called William Ruto and who embraced us truly.”
The MP also reminds Uhuru that he had earlier introduced them to Ruto, stating: “you had introduced him to us in 2012 and 2017,” and that he was described as “mtu wa mkono.”
‘Debt burden, taxes, and unfinished projects‘
Wamuchomba’s letter then turns to governance and economic grievances, linking current hardships to past fiscal decisions.
She argues that political choices made during Uhuru’s administration have had long-term consequences, stating: “the pains of paying debts and being heavily taxed were your creation since you left a big debt.”
She acknowledges that some development projects are now being revived, saying, “your stalled projects are now getting revamped,” and specifically highlights infrastructure efforts: “Your pet project Mau Mau roads are now getting funded to completion.”

Despite these acknowledgements, she paints a picture of disillusionment among residents, suggesting that the community is still grappling with fragmentation and uncertainty. “We are fragmented and full of hate as a mountain,” she writes, adding that unity has been lost due to shifting loyalties and political confusion.
She also revisits the role of Jubilee, noting, “Your party Jubilee was our home or so we believed,” before lamenting its decline and leadership transitions that left supporters confused and politically homeless.
‘Unity call, Gachagua criticism, and Mt Kenya future‘
The final section of the letter focuses on a renewed appeal for unity and a direct call for Uhuru to reassert leadership over Mt Kenya politics. Wamuchomba welcomes Uhuru’s recent message on unity but questions its practical application, asking: “But with who?”
She warns that divisions have deepened, stating, “we have created big cracks in the mountain,” and urges Uhuru to formally intervene: “kindly summon us officially.”
The MP also references traditional prophecy, writing that “Mugo wa Kibiru had prophesied that the mountain will NEVER rest till we construct and bless a THINGIRA,” adding that a symbolic structure in Githunguri is now set to begin, fully funded by the current regime.
A significant portion of the letter is directed at Gachagua, whom she accuses of divisive rhetoric. She urges Uhuru to rein him in, saying: “tell Mr Wamunyoro to stop body shaming his brothers from Mlima,” and further adds, “tell him to respect women leaders.”

She also criticizes alleged insults directed at other leaders, including claims that he refers to opponents in derogatory terms. “Tell him to stop spewing abuses at the church alters,” she writes, also warning against “inciting the mountain against other communities.”
In a striking appeal, she asserts Uhuru’s continued influence over Mt Kenya politics, stating: “You are the Bona-Fide Kingpin and ONLY you can order the Mlima politically since you are the Only ONE with Muthiigi (leadership mantle).”
She concludes the letter with a firm plea for order and reconciliation, insisting that only Uhuru can restore stability: “Munene, call the mountain to ORDER. We love and respect you.”
