The government has already released about Sh 1 billion for the construction of a new Gakoromone Market in Meru town.
Another project progressing at a fast pace is the Sh 1 billion Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital, along with the Sh 3.7 billion road project connecting Meru town, and another project involving the Kinoru Stadium, which will cost Sh 900 million and have the capacity to accommodate about 10,000 fans.
According to Deputy President Prof Kithure Kindiki, road projects in Meru County are ongoing in nine constituencies at a total cost of approximately Sh 3.7 billion.
Another 17 food markets are also under construction at a cost of Sh 2 billion.
Infrastructure and health improvements
Additionally, 26,000 homes and business premises are currently being connected to electricity at a cost of Sh 2.3 billion.
The main hospital in the town will also be upgraded from Level 5 to Level 6.

Once upgraded, the hospital will provide important services including surgery, cancer treatment, and kidney care.
Leaders inspect projects and urge support
Prof Kindiki visited the area last weekend, leading several local leaders in inspecting the projects.
Some of the leaders present included Meru Governor Isaac Mutuma and his deputy Linda Kiome, who emphasized the importance of cooperation between the national government and the county government.
These key projects are expected to significantly transform the lives of Meru residents and bring new development to the county.

Other leaders who attended the event included Imenti North MP Rahim Dawood, Tigania East MP Mpuri Aburi, Igembe Central MP Dan Kiili, Meru Woman Representative Elizabeth Kailemia, and Nominated MP Dorothy Muthoni.
The leaders unanimously urged Meru residents to support the projects, noting that they will create many job opportunities and together cost approximately Sh 44.3 billion.
All the local leaders thanked the government for its efforts to bring development to the area and acknowledged that the projects will greatly benefit residents by transforming their lives.
