Members of Parliament from Kiambu County allied to President William Ruto have intensified calls for residents to support the current administration, saying unity with the government is key to unlocking development projects in the region.
The leaders spoke on Friday, February 27, during a bursary disbursement event in Juja Sub-County, where students from Murera and Theta areas benefited from NG-CDF development funds totaling Sh73 million.
Juja MP George Koimburi distributed the funds to various schools, saying the initiative would ease the financial burden on families and improve access to education.
The Friday event brought together several MPs from the county and beyond, led by the National Assembly Majority Leader and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah, Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba, and South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro.
Their message was unanimous: residents should rally behind the government to accelerate development.
Education boost through NG-CDF
Koimburi urged Juja residents to work closely with the national government, noting that several key projects are lined up for launch. He announced that the Kimbo–Matangi Road in Juja town is set for commissioning in April, a move he said will boost trade and open up business opportunities in the area.
“This is not the time to spread hostility against the government. It is time to focus on development,” Koimburi said. “Let us support the government so that we can benefit from development in this region. We should not isolate ourselves.”

He reminded residents that leaders were elected to serve them through collaboration with the national government and added that the 2027 political season would give every leader a chance to account for their record in office.
Leaders call for unity
Ichung’wah echoed the sentiments, saying MPs have resolved to put aside constant political wrangles and instead work together for the benefit of wananchi.
“As your leaders, we must unite and deliver on our mandate. It is time to partner with the government to achieve meaningful development,” he said.
He revealed that the government has already embarked on constructing 1,000 affordable housing units in Kikuyu town, a project expected to benefit many residents.
Shift in political stance
Wamuchomba admitted that she had opposed President Ruto’s administration for the past two years but had reconsidered her stance after reflecting on the potential impact on her constituents.
“For the past two years, I strongly opposed the government, but I realized it is the people of Githunguri who would suffer. I have now decided to work with the government to serve them,” she said, adding that 2,180 affordable housing units are planned for Githunguri.

Osoro urged residents not to be swayed by political disagreements among leaders but to prioritize development.
“Today we may disagree, and tomorrow we are friends again. Focus on development from the government and do not dwell on political sparks,” he said.
