Residents of South Namwela location, Srisia sub county in Bungoma county woke up to sad news after two bodies were discovered dead in a house.
The couple were killed by unknown gang on Wednesday night while their bodies were discovered on Thursday January 9.
Confirming the incident area Chief Rodrick Kusyenya asked residents to remain calm and help in the investigations which are underway by providing crucial information.
The deceased’s were identified as Martin Wachiye (55) and his wife only identified as Caro (35).
“We want the culprits brought to book, the two might have been killed by a blunt object according to physical scars on their bodies,” said Kusyenya
According to neighbors the duo who are said to be husband and wife were found with deep cuts on their bodies while lying in a pool of blood showing that they are likely to have been cut by blunt object.
The bodies were discovered by children who were going to school early in the morning as the deceased’s house is adjacent to the road.
“We are shocked over the manner in which the two lost their lives and want the police to speed up its probe and apprehend the culprits,” said Wanjala Julius, a neighbour.
He continued “This is inhuman and as residents, we are not going to put up with brutal killings like this one,”
His sentiments were echoed by Pastor Philip Simiyu of Salvation Army who insisted that this would have adverse psychological effects on residents and it should prompt immediate action.
“Security of residents in this village is paramount, so the government and security agencies should conduct fast investigations in the matter and if they were murdered, suspects should be brought to book as soon as possible,” he said.
The bodies have been taken to Bungoma Mortuary and investigations have began.
