Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Tanga Tanga leaders are derailing the Luhya unity.
Ford Kenya Secretary General Dr.Eseli Simiyu says that Raila Odinga and the deputy president William Ruto are the leaders fighting the Luhya unity for their own selfish interests.
“Let Wetang’ula, Eugene and Mudavadi come together and agree that if we join either camps, negotiate our benefits in the merger but still we will fail if we are divided,” said Eseli.
Speaking on Sulwe FM on Wednesday during a live interview, the Tongaren Mp stated that Ruto and Raila are the ones fighting the Luhya unity so that they can be backed to ascend to power through the back door tactics.
“During the ceremony to remember the great Bukusu leader Masinde Muliro in Kitale, it clearly came out that there is no Luhya unity, because Luhya leaders subscribing to ODM and Tanga tanga gave the function a wide berth, i suspect its Raila and Ruto who are against the unity of purpose,” he said.
The legislator noted that for any Luhya to ascend to power they should unite and work together or else it will be hard, unless they support the two.
“We need to sit down as Luhya leaders negotiate and agree on which part we will play if we either join Raila or Ruto’s camps and what we will benefit from it, if we fail to get a Luhya candidate for the 2022 general elections,” said Eseli.
Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula has openly stated his ambition to run for presidency in 2022.
On the Ford Kenya, ANC merger plans, Eseli stated that they shelved it to allow FK to carry out its grassroot elections and also allow a by election in Kibra constituency following the death of its Mp Ken Okoth.
“I and Wetang’ula visited ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi in his office so that we could agree in fielding one candidate for the Kibra by election but we were surprised that evening before we had agreed, Mudavadi went ahead and named Mr.Eliud Owalo as his party preferred candidate forcing us also to field our candidate in Eng.Butichi,” he said.
