Following the declaration by Cheptais Ward MCA Jane Chebet Kamwanja to contest  for the Mt. Elgon Parliamentary seat in 2022, interested candidates have also declared their interests to succeed her.

The ward leader has now left the gates open and the political and financial heavyweights are traversing the agriculturally rich and the border point with Uganda selling their manifestos.
Chebet who is serving her second term since being elected in 2013, has declared her political interest and will battle it out with experienced politicians like John Serut, the incumbent Fred Kapondi among others.
“God willing i will be the first woman Mp from Mt Elgon, am well organized and my rivals should plan well and be prepared for a major surprise,” she said.
And in what is comparable to the current National political realignment, Cheptais ward seat has so far attracted a good number of potential bigwigs.
Political pundits have it that among the top politicians to succeed the incumbent is the aggressive Mt Elgon political activist cum businessman Amos Chemabus.
Also in the race is the current Chesikaki ward admin Michael King’wa, Bungoma county youth funds manager Augustine Kipsang, former protocol officer in the office of Deputy Governor Bungoma county Saddy Chesori, Nominated MCA Eunice  Kirui Sakas who is also a close associate to the current Mt. Elgon Mp Fred Kapondi, Nairobi based business man Harron Kirui Sakas , Mt. Elgon Knut Women representative Jemima Temko and final but not least is the 2017 independent candidate Mr. Moses Chemorion Cheseto.
Preminary analysis, indicate the tough competition shall be a two horse race between Amos Chemabus and the 2017 independent candidate Moses Cheseto.  Chemabus has set off the battle at a highest gear and he seems not to be leaving out any stone unturned.
He has laid down strong networks across the ward and he is now the household political subject of which the residents are giving it commendable views.
His net has not spared the youths as he has sponsored various football teams by providing branded games kits which has got other competitors flat footed.
On the side of community social services, Chemabus name features most ,especially in funerals where he has helped the residents with his generous contributions to help them give their loved ones a good send off.
Chemabus is almost a half of the game and those competing him should be worried not to waste their funds on.the campaign trail.
On the other side, Moses Cheseto relies on the projects he coordinated prior to the 2017 elections and these include milk coolant and coffee factories which marketed him so much to a level where he gave the current MCA Jane Chebet a tough competition, however the analysis on the ground shows that Cheseto has lost the political contact with the electorates after failing to capture the seat in the last general elections and this may  be disadvantagious on his side.
On her side the nominated MCA Hon. Eunice Kirui Sakas depends mostly on the endorsement by the area MP. Fred Kapondi which may not propel her ambitions well putting in consideration the Mp has his own tough political battle on the same ground that he used to enjoy in the last election.
There is also the family interest factor, whereby one of the potential candidate Harron  Kirui Sakas comes from the same family with Hon.Eunice and this may portray a picture that there is no unity  amongst the family members though it is democracy for any one of them to contest.
Other remaining candidates have not shown much seriousness on the race apart from their little undercover moves and this may render them non significant on this political race.
